Primary Education Support would like to acknowledge and thank key individuals, groups, and organizations without whom the website could not have been completed:

  • Yumna Rathore for creating the database and website, as well as assisting with its outreach and promotion. Yumna is a second-year Masters student in Public Administration with a focus on Policy Analysis and Development Planning at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. Originally from Pakistan, her regional focus is South Asia with an interest in education systems and women’s empowerment. She has previously interned in Pakistani and Haitian education-focused local NGOs, the Embassy of Pakistan, and the Pakistan Permanent Mission to the United Nations. Yumna is currently an intern Research Assistant in the Middle East Institute and also sits on the board of Pennsylvania Organization for Women in Early Recovery (POWER). In the near future, Yumna hopes to work in consultancy firms or international financial organizations focusing on education, energy, and environment reforms in South Asian developing economies.
  • Middle East Institute (MEI) for giving us the logistic support and  space needed for the creation of the website. MEI is one of the oldest non-profit think tanks dedicated to the Middle East in Washington DC. It aims to provide “non-partisan, expert information, and analysis on the Middle East,” which by their definition  includes the two South Asian countries represented on this website i.e Afghanistan and Pakistan.
  • 70 Afghan educators, numerous Pakistani writers and primary school teachers, and  Egyptian social workers for their major work in the field projects
  • USAID, UN, and Save the Children officials for offering support and funds for the projects
  • Faryal Khan of UNESCO for suggesting that we create a website with these documents and materials
  • Zarghona Shazli and others for translating the Dari and Pashto Afghan Basic Competencies in Learning workbooks
  • John Gillis for providing pictures from the Afghan Primary Education Project that was implemented in the 1990s
  • Doug Rugh for allowing us to use a picture of his oil painting as one of the header images for the website
