Egypt New Horizons Project

Below are life-skills materials, some in Arabic, and others in English, that were produced by the Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) consultants with support from USAID.

This one-page document briefly describes The New Horizons Program as a cooperative effort to provide life skills materials for out of school girls attending classes in social welfare centers. The project undertook needs assessments in rural villages of Egypt and based on these findings developed facilitator materials with relevant activities, and measures to test whether the messages of the lessons were assimilated. The project was carried out with funding from USAID and under the supervision  of CEDPA technical experts.

This  report summarizes  the life skills needs of disadvantaged out of school girls and young women in rural villages of Egypt. CEDPA received a five-year grant to improve the education, health, literacy, and life skills of disadvantaged girls and young women in rural governorates.

The brochure described the New Horizons story of participatory development in action to those unaware of the project. It concisely covered the history, grass-roots approach, comprehensive strategy, six steps method, timeline, impact, partnerships, and future of the New Horizons Project.

The booklet highlighted the New Horizons project’s basic components. The New Horizons was a non formal education program designed to demystify and communicate essential information in the areas of basic life skills and reproductive health to girls and young women. The booklet contains information on the target audiences, uses, topics covered, program logistics, program values, observed impacts, and future uses of the program.
